cause you're there for me too

I love friends. Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Phoebe, Ross, Joey friends. You know, after all the different experiments on 'how to better up the mood', I  can for sure say, that friends have the best scores. There can't be any bad mood, any bad day, any bad fight which won't turn into my smiling after hearing 'so no one told you life was gonna be this way......'

And damn right, I have all the seasons, which can last me million bad moods and days :))

So no one told you life was gonna be this way
Your job's a joke, you're broke, your love life's D.O.A.
It's like you're always stuck in second gear
When it hasn't been your day, your week, your month, or even your year
But
I'll be there for you (when the rain starts to pour)
I'll be there for you (like I've been there before)
I'll be there for you (because you're there for me too)

my little monet

My little cousin Elene is a future Christie's and Sotheby's provider. She is only 6 and she, may i say, has a great talent in painting. Here are some of her works, including the one, where I am painted - three dancing girls, and I'm the one on the right with a white-pink hat.

And take a look at her collage (the last one). She has combined pieces of different paper to picture a bottle, a glass, onion and fruits.

CinemaGraphs

On one of the Georgian websites I  found an amazing thing - Cinemagraph. More than a picture, but not quite a movie - as the authors Jamie Beck and Kevin Burg say, it takes 50 photos to make such a cinemagraph. I will just let you enjoy those. Let me know which ones you like most.

prospero books & what french women know

I was looking through my mobile picture gallery and found two pictures that I took several months ago for my blog. I always wanted to write about one of my favourite places in Tbilisi but was always forgetting to.

Most of all I love book shops. Book shops and music shops. Since you don't really need music shops these days, because of youtube and online stores, my no.1 favourite is store filled with all kind of books. I can spend whole day in such store, more than a day, if i was only able to. In Tbilisi there are several nice bookshops, but the best one is Prospero's books, which I simply adore. It has such a nice backyard, where u can sit, have a hot chocolate and read the book you bought there.

One of my latest purchase is a book by Debra Ollivier 'What French women know'. I haven't read it till the end yet, but I will introduce 20 things, that i really liked :)

20 Things French Women Know

1.
French women love men. A lot. They prefer men to be in the picture, not out of it.

2.  French women prefer reciprocity and complementarities over strict egalitarianism.

3.  French women don’t need things to fit neatly into a box. Romantic possibilities don’t have to be emotionally tidy or safe. Desire can be of greater import than utility; experience more important than closure.

4.  French women have a keen sense of the brevity of time and the immediacy of pleasure.

5.  In France women do not pick flowers and ponder love with “He loves me, he loves me not;” rather they say “He love me a little. A lot. Passionately. Madly. Not at all. . ." They think in nuances, degrees of passion, shades of grey. They do not think in the absolutes of total love and utter rejection.

6.   French women don’t care about being liked and being like everyone else. They have no desire to be "all things to all people." They know the fine art of not giving a damn.

7.   French women do not believe in relationship experts, love gurus, how-to dogma, tools and techniques for finding love.  They are not fond of rules. There is no Doctor Phil in France.

8.   French women embrace contradictions. They can simultaneously be feminine and a feminist; sensualist and a traditionalist; classic and libertine; submissive and powerful; compliant and defiant.

9.   French women have no word for “date.”

10. French women have no word for “soul mate.”

11. French women do not believe in perfection or in Happily-ever-after.

12. French women balance romance with realism and fatalism.

13. French women embrace the idea of jolie-laide. They reject packaged beauty.

14. French women know how to cultivate their gardens. They believe in the seductive attributes of an inner life. They believe that smart is sexy.

15. French women know that safe sex is possible but not safe love.

16. French women agree to disagree.

17.  French women are grown-ups. They do not believe in being forever young.  You will never see a French women wearing a t-shirt that says “Life begins at seventy.” (Because it doesn't.)

18. French women are more interested in having a life than making a living.

19.  French women believe that personal space creates well-being. They know about boundaries.

20. French women are matter-of-fact about the body. They do not dramatize or sensationalize sex.

bossa nova my love

I think I already talked about my passion for bossa nova in one of my first posts. Now I want to share my favourite songs with you, which used to be the soundtracks of brazilian series. I honestly watched brazilian soap operas because of the music in them:

Miucha, Tom Jobim e Chico Buarque - Sei la a vida tem sempre razao
(Viver a vida)

Joao Gilberto - Corcovado
 (Lacos de familia)

Fat Family - Gulosa
(Andando nas nuvens)

Tom Jobim e Miucha - Pela luz dos olhos teus
(Mulheres Apaixonadas)

Zizi Possi - Per Amore
(Por Amor)

share the joy

my brother and my best friend

My blog is a mix of cooking, advertising, thoughts-sharing and people-introducing  :) I love writing about people I love, because I can share my feeling for them in written form as well. My cousin Nika is the person I would like to talk about today. I remember when he was little I used to read him fairy tales at night. Then I would teach him songs, and we would sing together and record it, we would play cards and the one who lost would get his face painted with charcoal. When I was afraid of grasshoppers, he would chase them and throw out of the window, we would talk for hours and hours, share everything with each other. When he was little I used to take him everywhere with my friends, now that he grew up, he takes me everywhere with his.

Now that he has graduated from school with the highest marks, I'm so proud of him. I can always count on him: he is my support. He is my brother and my best friend.

cooking blog

i'm seriously thinking of turning my blog into a cooking blog. we cook so many things these days, that i really feel like sharing them with you. but then, when you have a cooking blog, you are supposed to show the process of cooking with the photos. ok, if not the whole process, at least the end dish. you should show how it all looks like once it's ready. in case of my family, once the dish is ready, we start eating immediately, and i honestly forget to take the picture of anything ;)

today my dearest husband cooked tiger prawns in cream and white wine sauce, and i cooked new potatos. prawns turned out to be soooo tasty, that i only have a photo of what was left :)) bachi definately deserves all michelin stars.

strawberry season

When spring is going away and summer is coming, the season of sweet-lovers starts. The dessert season begins with strawberries. This week I have eaten lots of different strawberry desserts - strawberry cream by my cousin, strawberry cake by my colleague and even strawberry (!) tiramisu by one of my friends. Yesterday it was time to do some strawberry-cooking myself.

So according to the recipe of my dearest friend Khato, I made 'Chinese Cake'. I have no idea why it is called Chinese, and I guess my friends from China don't have it as their national cake, but, here in Georgia it is this season's favourite. Cream, strawberries, walnuts, cookies - and here it is, a fantastic summer cake.
